|
Booking a ski vacation Snowboarding in the Kootenays EHThere are many snowboard mountain resorts located in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada . The high elevation mountains, the consistent accumulation of powder snow and the close proximity to glaciers all play a big part in establishing the Kootenays as a prime snowboarding destination in British Columbia every year. The snowboarding mountain resorts in the Kootenays are well known for powder snow, big steeps, glades and bowls. Many include snowboarding parks with high bank corners, rails, ramps, tunnels, jumps and skids. The rail parks provide skill stations for all levels of snowboarding. All Kootenay snowboard hills have a selection of trails and trick stations accommodating various skill levels. The snow trails on the hills are safely accessed via a network of ski lifts like gondolas, quad and double chairs and T-bars. Most lifts lead to downhill alpine runs while some lifts will direct snowboarders to the entrance of the snowboard park. Each hill is different. All hills provide snowboard equipment rentals and lessons. The Kootenays has a high concentration of mountain resorts. They all vary in size and services. Many ski and snowboard hills are anchored by colorful villages built up with services like restaurants, pubs, sport shops, general stores, tour companies, coffee shops, day cares, spas, gift stores and accommodations like chalets, hotels, inns, lodges and cottages. Each hill is in close proximity to a community where there are more services. Most of the snowboard hills in the Kootenay region cater to other winter activities also like downhill skiing, heli skiing, cat skiing, ice skating, nordic skiing and dog sledding. Some of the mountains in the region also work with alpine clubs and assist in maintaining a network of cross country ski trails. |
