| Whitewater Mountain is a winter mountain
recreation destination located southeast of the community of Nelson,
BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The mountain
is home to the Whitewater Winter Resort.
The alpine mountain is a popular destination
for skiing, snowboarding, heli skiing and snow cat skiing in the winter months. Other winter activities
enjoyed near the mountain include cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
The Whitewater Winter Resort enjoys a vertical
of 396 metres attracting local and visiting skiers and snowboarders
to the mountain. The mountain terrain covers 478 hectares
(1180 acres) and is covered with 11 ski runs and a rail park.
The ski runs on the mountain cater
to all skiers and boarders of all skill levels. On the mountain
20% of the ski runs are designed for beginners, 40% for intermediate,
40% for expert.
Some of the beginner runs on the
mountain include Upper Concentrator and the Little Mucker Trails. Some
of the expert "black diamond" ski runs include the
Nugget, Kootenay Bells and the Rockers Trails.
The ski runs and snow activities
are serviced by 3 lifts on the mountain including 2 Double Chairs and 1 T-Bar .
All services are in the community of Nelson which is 15 minutes away. Services on the mountain are limited. There is a lodge, a restaurant, coffee shop, pub, bank machine, day care, rental shop and lessons.

How to Get to Whitewater Mountain
Travel to the community of Nelson, BC. From Nelson, BC travel south on Highway #6 for 12 kilometres. Watch for the signs directing you to Whitewater Mountain. Take the left turn off the highway and start up the mountain. Continue traveling for another 6 kilometres to the lodge. |
