Northstar
Mountain is a year-round mountain
recreation destination located west of the community of Kimberley,
BC in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The mountain
is home to the Kimberley Alpine Resort.
The alpine resort is a popular destination
for skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
and dog sledding in the winter months. Other winter activities
enjoyed near the resort mountain include heli skiing and snowmobiling.
The ski resort enjoys a vertical
of 751 metres attracting local and visiting skiers and snowboarders
to the mountain. The mountain resort terrain covers 729 hectares
(1800 acres) and is covered with 80 ski runs and one snowboard
terrain park.
The ski runs on the mountain cater
to all skiers and boarders of all skill levels. On the mountain
20% of the ski runs are designed for beginners, 42% for intermediate,
38% for expert.
Some of the beginner runs on the
mountain include Canada Way, Midnight and Ridgeway Trails. Some
of the expert "black diamond" ski runs include the
Bunker Hill, Easter Face, Magma, Vortex, Windfall and Jackpot
Trails. The longest run on the mountain is 6.4 kilometres.
The ski runs and snow activities
are serviced by 5 lifts on the mountain including 1 High Speed
Quad Chair, 1 Triple Chair, 1 Double Chair, 1 T-Bar, 1 Carpet
lift.
During the summer months the Kimberley
Mountain Resort becomes a sightseeing and hiking destination.
Other summer activities enjoyed near the mountain during the
summer months include golfing and horseback riding.
Services on the mountain include
accommodations and a few restaurants, coffee shop, retail stores,
pub, bank machine, day care, rental shops and lessons.

Travel towards the community of Kimberley,
BC, Canada. Once in Kimberley travel along Gerry Sorensen Way
to the alpine mountain resort. Very good signage to the hill. |
