| Kimberley,
BC is a mountain recreation
village situated in the Rocky Mountain Trench located in between
the Purcell and Rocky Mountain Ranges in the southeastern section
of the province of British Columbia, Canada. Kimberley is the
second highest community in Canada with an elevation of 1,110
metres (3663 ft) above sea level.
The community of Kimberley is part of the Kootenay
region of British Columbia, Canada. A region of mountains, glaciers,
rivers, lakes, hot springs, wildlife and forest. It is an environment
which encourages adventure and outdoor activities year round.
During the summer months some of the activities
enjoyed, in and around, Kimberley include hiking, backpacking,
camping, mountain biking, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, cycling,
fishing, boating, water skiing, fishing, river kayaking, horseback
riding, rafting, wind surfing, picnicking, canoeing, scuba diving,
off roading, dirt biking and mountain climbing.
The Kimberley
Nature Park trail system is popular for hiking and mountain

is very easily accessible. The Mark Creek Nature Trail from
Kimberley to Marysville is another adventure on foot or bike.
When in Marysville all should visit the Marysville

After the snow has fallen, the activities enjoyed
in the backcountry of Kimberley include cross country skiing,

ice fishing and dog sledding. Many of the activities are enjoyed
on Northstar Mountain which
is home to the Kimberley Alpine Resort.
The downtown square in the Village of Kimberley,
" The Platzl", is full of european architecture. We
like that the village square is easy browsing as it is pedestrian
only. The cobblestone walkway in the square is lined with stores
and shops complimented by sitting benches and flower gardens.
In the centre of The Platzl is a large clock.
It is the largest cuckoo clock in Canada. It is because of The
Platzl, the german culture and the beautiful mountain setting
that Kimberley is named the "Bavarian City of the Rockies".
Services in the community important to travelers
include accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants, gas stations,
grocery stores, laundromat, banks, internet, pubs, information
centre, gift stores, tours and guides.
