Fairmont
Hot Springs is a year-round
resort village situated, a short distance, south of the
community of Invermere in the Columbia Valley, Kootenay
region of British Columbia. The popular recreation and relaxation
resort destination includes the largest odourless hot spring
pools in Canada, some golf courses and a ski hill.
Fairmont Hot Springs rests
at the headwaters of the Columbia River - not far from the
recreational water sports of Windermere Lake. Looming high
above the hot springs are the Rocky and Purcell Mountains
- home to glaciers, waterfalls, hoodoos, snowcapped peaks,
crashing rivers and endless wilderness adventures.
Long ago, the hot springs
were first used by the First Nation people as healing waters.
The pools were once referred to as the ‘Land of Smoking
Waters’. The mineral pool provides
hours of warm water therapy and relaxation.
From the pools one can enjoy
the magnificent views of the surrounding landscape. The
Fairmont Range of the Rocky Mountains is easily viewed while
soaking in the hot springs. The Fairmont Range is part of
the Stanford Range of the Rocky Mountains.
There are services important
to travelers located at Fairmont Hot Springs. Some of the
services include accommodations, RV Park, spa centre, fitness
centre, information centre, restaurants and retail stores.
Some of the activities enjoyed,
in and near, Fairmont during the summer months include
golfing, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, river kayaking,
canoeing, horseback riding, rafting, backpacking, rock climbing,
mountaineering and wilderness camping.
During
the winter months, people enjoy downhill skiing, snowboarding,
