Rotary
Loop Trail is a multi-purpose
recreation trail system within the community of Golden, BC in
the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. The gravel and
road trail is a major pedestrian access route when moving around
within the city.
The trail is a great way to tour the community
while hiking and biking. Many locals in the community prefer to
bike to and from work using the trail as to driving. The trail
is a compliment to the community and the efforts made to promote
an active lifestyle.
The trail is a 7 kilometre route following the
shores of the Kicking Horse River on the north side and provides
views of the Columbia River on the west side. The Rotary Trail
connects to parks, stores, residential neighbourhoods, accommodations,
campgrounds and to the airport.
Some of the parks connected to the Rotary Loop
Trail include the Kumsheen, Alexander and Keith King Memorial
Park. Reflection Lake, located on the south side of the community,
is a popular starting and finishing point when touring the recreation
route.
Another, point of interest along the trail is
the timber frame bridge crossing the Kicking Horse River. It is
the longest covered bridge of its kind in Canada. There are viewing
benches and picnic tables located on the trail. Some provide views
of the mighty Kicking Horse River.
