historic buildings and the friendly pioneer actors.
Spread out over 12 acres, the town is full
of restored and original buildings dating back to the 1890's.
These historic buildings line the pedestrian boardwalk paths
and gravel streets of the town. These same streets connect together
to form a loop route in the shape of a square. In the centre
of the square is a large grass field with a bandstand.
The town is busy with activity as period actors,
both young and old, are dressed in pioneer and settler clothing
walking the streets. Some pioneer actors operate the shops and
stores in the village while others provide the entertainment.
The town is a working pioneer settlement.
The actors, the atmosphere, the scenery and
the architecture all play a big part in making the Fort Steele
experience a memorable one. It is a heritage village full of
pioneer actors providing real-life adventures for those who
enjoy a taste of BC, Canada history.
