Sandy, Pebbled and Rocky Beaches in the Kootenays EH

In the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada the sandy, pebbled and rock beaches are located along the banks of the mighty rivers, man-made reservoirs and beautiful mountain lakes. Each of the Kootenay communities in the region are in close proximity to a major lake and/or river confluence. Where there is a lake or river there is, usually, a sandy or pebbled public beach.

Some recreation beaches are public beaches with many amenities and nearby services like picnic shelters, concessions, washrooms and swimming piers. These beaches are easily accessed from paved city streets and highways. Other beaches are remote beaches with little or no services and are harder to access because they are located via traveling backcountry gravel roads and/or hiking a remote trail. However, the more remote the beach, the more natural and private it is. Just prepare well.

Each community in the Kootenays enjoys a recreation beach within their city limits or, at least, within a very short drive from their city limits. Because so many Kootenay communities are within a short drive of each other, many beaches can be enjoyed from a base accommodation. Every community is, at least, within a short drive of a wilderness beach park and/or recreation forestry area. Many of the remote wilderness parks in the Kootenays come with other pluses too, besides a beautiful recreation beach, like hiking, biking, fishing and camping opportunities.
